Choose a slide rated for the heaviest load you realistically expect to carry on it, while staying within your truck's own payload limits. OmniGarage currently carries bed slides from 250 to 4,000 lbs, so the right rating can vary considerably between recreational gear and dense commercial loads. A larger number is not automatically better—match the capacity to what you actually haul.

Start with your year, make, model, bed length, and the usable dimensions inside the bed. Manufacturers offer different slide lengths and widths for different truck configurations, and BEDSLIDE specifically recommends checking the actual available bed space before ordering. Also account for liners, factory storage, and anything else already mounted in the bed that could affect clearance or installation.

Choose full width when you want most of the bed to move out as one cargo platform. A half-width slide makes more sense when you want sliding access on one side while keeping part of the bed open for taller cargo, another storage system, or equipment that does not need to move. DECKED currently offers both full- and half-bed-width CargoGlide configurations.

Choose 100% extension when you regularly need direct access to gear stored all the way toward the cab. A 75% slide still brings most of the deck toward the tailgate and may be enough when frequently used cargo stays closer to the middle or rear. Current CargoGlide models offer both, while the BEDSLIDE 1000 Classic uses 75% extension.

Often, but check vertical clearance before ordering. Measure from the top of the installed slide to the underside of the closed cover or cap, then make sure your toolboxes, coolers, cases, or other cargo still fit in that remaining space. For reference, the BEDSLIDE 1000 Classic raises the cargo deck about 4.5 inches, while other designs vary.

It depends on the slide and the truck. DECKED says a CargoGlide mounted directly in the bed typically requires four to eight mounting holes, while BEDSLIDE offers no-drill factory-mount kits for selected vehicles and models. Bed liners and aluminum beds can also change the required hardware. Check the installation requirements first, then use Bed Slide Components & Accessories if your application needs a specific mounting kit.

Not with every system. Bed-mounted towing hardware can occupy or protrude through the same floor area a slide needs for its frame and mounting points. DECKED, for example, specifically states that CargoGlide is not compatible with in-bed fifth-wheel or gooseneck setups. If your truck has—or will need—bed-mounted towing equipment, confirm compatibility before choosing the slide.
