Air Cleaner Assemblies

Frequently Asked Questions

Match the assembly to the carburetor or throttle-body mounting neck first, then check overall diameter, filter height, and under-hood clearance. The current {{website}} assortment includes several diameters and filter heights, so two round air cleaners can look similar but sit very differently on the engine. Confirm the mounting specification for the exact assembly and make sure the lid, base, linkage, hoses, and hood all have room before ordering.

Use the complete installed height, not just the filter-element height. The base shape, drop or rise, filter height, lid, carburetor or throttle-body height, and any spacer all affect hood clearance. Also check for interference with throttle linkage, fuel lines, PCV or breather fittings, and nearby brackets. If clearance is tight, compare the dimensions of the assembly you have now with the dimensions of the replacement.

Choose a replacement filter when the existing base and lid are still serviceable and a correctly sized element is available. A complete assembly makes more sense when the housing is damaged, the mounting size is wrong, clearance is a problem, or you want to change the diameter, height, or housing design. If you change the whole assembly, also check the mounting gasket, stud, nut, and any breather or PCV fittings so worn or incompatible hardware does not hold up the installation.

Choose by fit and available space rather than shape alone. Round assemblies are common and come in several diameters and heights, while a triangle design can package differently around nearby components. The correct choice still has to match the mounting neck and leave enough room for the hood, linkage, fuel lines, and other engine-bay hardware.
