There are products designed to perform these conversions, but you need to check fitment, the original headlamp system, required electronics, and road-use status before buying.

For U.S. road use, don't assume an LED bulb is compliant simply because it fits a halogen bulb socket. NHTSA has specifically explained that LED replacement light sources sold for replaceable-bulb headlamps may fail to conform to FMVSS 108, while complete LED headlamp systems can be designed as compliant integral assemblies.

That makes this a compatibility and compliance decision—not just a brightness upgrade.

Match four things:

vehicle → original lighting system → bulb size → beam/function being converted.

The same vehicle may have different factory headlight configurations, and one kit does not necessarily cover both low and high beam.

Modern vehicles can monitor the electrical load of their lighting circuits. Changing the lighting technology can sometimes cause flickering, shutdown, warning messages, or other errors.

Manufacturers such as Race Sport sell CANbus decoder interfaces specifically to allow LED conversion kits to communicate properly with certain vehicle electronics, and Oracle notes that some applications may require an additional decoder if the converted lights flash, strobe, or shut down.

Check whether the kit already includes that hardware before purchasing it separately.

Some vehicles use one dual-beam bulb for both functions, while others use separate high- and low-beam bulbs. Manufacturers sell conversion kits accordingly; for example, some H4, H13, and 9007 applications are designed as high/low dual-beam kits, while other bulb applications are sold specifically for low beam or another individual function.

Before ordering, check whether you're converting low beam, high beam, or both.

This is exactly the sort of “complete setup” question that can prevent someone from discovering after installation that they've only upgraded half the headlight system.

Depending on the design, a kit may include the driver- and passenger-side bulbs, drivers or ballasts, wiring, CANbus decoders, anti-flicker components, adapters, or mounting pieces.

Don't judge completeness from the word “kit.” Check the actual contents.

For example, OmniGarage sells Race Sport LED kits that specifically include CANbus decoders, while other systems may require those pieces separately.

A conversion kit changes the lighting source inside the existing headlamp system. A complete aftermarket headlight changes the entire optical assembly.
