Match the shifter stick’s thread diameter and pitch to the knob or one of its included adapters. Hurst and B&M universal handles cover several SAE and metric sizes, but the supported thread sets vary by model. “Universal” does not mean one size fits every stick. Confirm your thread size and the included inserts or jam nuts before buying rather than relying on vehicle make alone.

Sometimes. If the automatic shifter uses a simple threaded handle and does not rely on a factory-style release button or another control in the knob, a compatible aftermarket knob may work. If the original knob controls Park release, overdrive, or another required function, thread fit alone is not enough. Verify both the mechanical attachment and the functions the replacement must retain.

On current Hurst and B&M examples, it is a momentary 12-volt switch intended to trigger accessories such as line lock, a trans-brake, or nitrous. It is not automatically a Park-release or overdrive button. If you need to retain a factory shifter function, choose a handle designed for that function; otherwise use the accessory switch only as the manufacturer specifies.
