The 12K PullRite Traditional Series SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch is designed specifically for the “shorter than a short bed” trucks like modern ½ ton trucks with beds shorter than 6 feet. It moves up to 22-3/4” while turning. SuperGlide automatically moves the trailer away from the cab while making turns – allowing up to 90° turning without stopping, slowing down, or even thinking about the space between the truck and trailer. Then, it automatically returns the hitch and trailer to the safe towing position over the truck axle when the turn is completed. Not every trailer is going to be a candidate for use with this hitch on a 5.5 ft. truck bed. There are many factors to consider when determining compatibility between this hitch, your truck, and your trailer including trailer width, placement of the king pin, and the trailer’s corners. The trailer must not be more than 96” wide. The distance your king pin box extends forward of your trailer nose cap as well as whether the corners are contoured or not may affect clearance during turns. The greater the distance between the cab’s contact point and the king pin, the better that trailer is suited for this application.
